इदम् हि वृत्तम् उचितम् कुलस्य अस्य सनातनम् | दानम् दीक्षा च यज्ञेषु तनु त्यागो मृधेषु च || २-४०-७
idam hi vR^ittam ucitam kulasya asya sanaatanam | daanam diikShaa ca yaGYeShu tanu tyaago mR^idheShu ca || 2-40-7
Translation
"It is indeed a practice right from ancient times in your race, to make gifts, to dedicate onself to performance of sacrificial rites and to foresake one's body to fight battles."
