स बद्ध इव पाशेन किशोरो मातरम् यथा | धर्मपाशेन सम्क्षिप्तः प्रकाशम् नाभुदैक्षत || २-४०-४०
padaatinau ca yaana arhaav aduhkha arhau sukha ucitau | dR^iShTvaa sa.ncodayaam aasa shiighram yaahi iti saarathim || 2-40-41
Translation
Rama, bound by the chord of righteousness, could not gaze openly at his parents, as a foal caught in asnare would not properly look at its dam.
